Entrepreneur Of The Week: Tackling Tribalism a step at a time around Kenya

“All of You have Lamented Unemployment, Corruption, and Tribalism. What are You doing about it?” President Mwai Kibaki asked at a National Youth Summit held at KICC where over 2000 Youth drawn all over Kenya were in attendance. This became the call for the young men and a lady who after this event, in 2013, started the Vijana Bila Ukabila Peace Initiative that would see them walk from Eldoret, all the way to Mombasa in 39 days this year. The long walk was to speak to the souls of the many who have either been victims or perpetrators of violence because of Tribalism. The statement, “Tuna kabila, lakini si ukabila”, meaning, we are from a tribe, but we are not tribal going to show that in spite of our diversity in tribes, which is inevitable, we do not discriminate against each other because of those tribes.
