WHAT DO EMERGING ENTRPRENEUR’S REALLY NEED?
Ever hosted a party? What goes on in your mind? What if someone does not show up? Can you imagine that? Now imagine that every day!!! For a young entrepreneur or a young person doing business, that is the daily living frens, what if nobody comes? True #characterdevelopment don’t you think?
I remember when I held my first event when I was a quarter-century old then. And remember beginning with such excitement to design what I thought would be an out-of-this-world event. With my continuous, hyper energy, believe me I was going to pull it off almost, solo, but it didn’t feel as good as when friends of mine and neighbors offered to join me. It was such a relief and a sense of joy to have a person who was really supportive of you and dedicated to your win.
It even got more exciting, when the first person pays up for your gig. Well, I still remember the first two people to date. Seth Olale and Meekeh, and I was super honored that they believed to spend a day at my event and brought their special people. Later, everyone joined in and came on board. My family, friends and their friends and my friends came on board, and we made such merry!!! And I remember that evening being really moved at how people always show up, especially when you feared they wouldn’t, and then they do. Sigh, issa emotional affair!!!
To date, I still feel the same. I thank people like 1000 times. I always remember someday, sitting on a field, and then a friend's car appears at the entrance, and I just want to go lift them off the ground and thank them with hugs and kisses. Mercy, you know you saved the day here.
I remember then, the event was not full, and I remember thinking, nitaambia watu nini when the seats are empty. And I called my friend, and neighbor Dennis, and he brought me a whole house. I was so moved seeing him and a whole population coming on board. It didn’t matter how the event turned out as I yawned everyone with slow jams, for which I should have listened to Santa’s advise, it was moving that they came to yawn with me. The event was still a success because people came. Today, we are more than 600 of us because people continue to show up, everyday, without fail.
Friends, we are intertwined and the success of each other is intertwined with the other. The success of one depends on the success of all and the showing up of everyone, the working elites and the business class, and the tribes of supporters. It is the goodness of humanity that is the glue that continues to hold everyone, without people with spending power, no business can thrive, and without the business community how does the economy even work?
Frens, #entrepreneurship is not for everyone. In fact, if you do not want to age prematurely and lose your teeth early, keep your job. But you can be an investor, investing in the young dreams. Or you can share the work of #entrepreneurs and even better buy from the emerging #entrepreneurs. #Cheer them on!!! The first purchaser makes all the difference, you validate the dream. Be the first purchaser as you are the validator too. Don’t be in the team borrowing the tools of business owners so that you don’t pay for the service, or bargaining always, or looking for ways to get away for free. Be the cheerleader if you must, it is honorable to know that because of you an SME is thriving.
I buy from friends, and family, and show up for them too, it makes all the difference. And since I can’t buy everything, I share as it costs little to do so. Sometimes that is enough for the business. They say sharing is caring and that is how we make the world go round!!!
When a young person becomes an #entrepreneur, either straight from college or from employment, they may not be prepared for the character development 101 they are practically about to face. First of all realizing that you need to first start selling and people aint just boarding, aint seeing your posts!!! He hehe
This became the very foundation of the tribe, to see you as a businessperson, to be the first person that enters your field. We may not be able to change the world on the scale that we envision, but we can change the world a businessperson at a time. Supporting the #entrepreneurship ecosystem by more access to #markets and #networks is all I ever needed when I was starting, access. It is what I purpose to do, ensure more access to our members and more visibility. Ours is about shared resources and shared markets and networks, and you are welcome any day to be part.
Thus, I am using my timelines to promote and support SMEs with affordable advertising, even though I know access is premium, because we know quality people!!! Please don’t block a girl when you see endless promotions, see this space as a marketplace to support dreams.
For big organizations, yáll remain premium as you know bargaining is a sin when you have a lot. Mumeshaomoka, hadi you should be investors . Really looking forward to seeing you on the other side!!!
And for you all, how can you be part of the whole ecosystem if you are not in business, keep checking my timelines for cool stuff you may need and, in the process, support brilliant business straight out of Kenya. #BuyKenya #SupportKenya #DreamMarkets. The difference between a young person closing shop and not, is in actually you buying from them and taking up irresistible offers. That is the promise.
