Elephants crossing a tumultuous river in Samburu. It is flooding, it’s heavy and the mother elephant is faced with a decision to cross or not to cross.   After so much thought, she crosses the treacherous rivers following the herd.   She begins to cross the river and the more she goes in, the harder the river flows. The little cub loses his grip and she tries to hold the cub with her trunk, but the water keeps pushing. This is the same river with crocodiles and many predators who wait for cubs like this. They are still far from the end, and if she is not careful she may loose her cub whose pregnancy she carried for two years.   It isn’t long before the herd notices that she tries to save the little cub who is now already tired. Together they come back to the rescue with each the herd now standing on either side of the cub to block the angry river currents.  It is the most beautiful sight to watch as the cub arrives gracefully at the end of the river. Though tired, tr...

WHO IS IN YOUR CORNER?

Image
Do you remember when we were kids and we had cliques. The three people that you always talk to. Being in Business taught me differently. In as much as I had the extroverted gene in me, in many cases, my introvert gene was more dominant, clinging to my circle. I could attend a networking event without making a new friend or reaching out to anyone else other than who I already knew. I could be part of the event and easily be forgotten. Sometimes I was just not interested. We have the whole #NoNewFriends Vybe. Being in business, got me out of that shell. I remember the first time I had to sell fragrance that I had in my bag. I couldn’t just sit there being quiet in the meeting, it forced me to speak up, interact and share more. I mean, you can’t just keep to a small circle when you are a trader. People have moved across continents to make new friends, meet new people so that they can share what they have. Today, you can network on social media and have the whole world as your runway, no...

#EverlastingPostAlert #IhaveWrittenAWholeBook #DontBlockMe WHAT DO EMERGING ENTRPRENEUR’S REALLY NEED? Ever hosted a party? What goes on in your mind? What if someone does not show up? Can you imagine that? Now imagine that every day!!! For a young entrepreneur or a young person doing business, that is the daily living frens, what if nobody comes? True #characterdevelopment don’t you think? I remember when I held my first event when I was a quarter-century old then. And remember beginning with such excitement to design what I thought would be an out-of-this-world event. With my continuous, hyper energy, believe me I was going to pull it off almost, solo, but it didn’t feel as good as when friends of mine and neighbors offered to join me. It was such a relief and a sense of joy to have a person who was really supportive of you and dedicated to your win. It even got more exciting, when the first person pays up for your gig. Well, I still remember the first two people to date. S...

The jovial and Jolly lass Lavender Odeny is a Co-founder of Renman Africa, an agri-manufacturing company in Malindi Kenya that is processing raw cassava into flour. At a very young age, the agripreneur enthusiast is passionate about making an impact through agricultural innovations. And, yes indeed she is breaking cultural barriers, stereotypes against agriculture for young people and may soon be making global waves. When she began, she would never have imagined the world opening up to her to this level as many even wondered why she pursued agriculture at the university. As an entrepreneur, she has gone over the low moments of being in a Financial Crisis with pending expenses owning just a vision and idea. She knows too well how draining that can be and how easy it is for anyone to give up at this point, but she never gave up, she kept the faith, and today, she lives to tell the story. Today, she is a proud alumna and beneficiary of various entrepreneurship programs including The Tony...
