Elephants crossing a tumultuous river in Samburu. It is flooding, it’s heavy and the mother elephant is faced with a decision to cross or not to cross.   After so much thought, she crosses the treacherous rivers following the herd.   She begins to cross the river and the more she goes in, the harder the river flows. The little cub loses his grip and she tries to hold the cub with her trunk, but the water keeps pushing. This is the same river with crocodiles and many predators who wait for cubs like this. They are still far from the end, and if she is not careful she may loose her cub whose pregnancy she carried for two years.   It isn’t long before the herd notices that she tries to save the little cub who is now already tired. Together they come back to the rescue with each the herd now standing on either side of the cub to block the angry river currents.  It is the most beautiful sight to watch as the cub arrives gracefully at the end of the river.
